(Exterior Insulation & Finish System) also known as synthetic stucco, is a multi-layered exterior barrier system designed to prevent moisture intrusion through exterior walls. It consists of expanded polystyrene foam insulation that has been toweled over with base coat, a layer of mesh and finally a finish coat.
The rich appearance of EIFS bears a resemblance to stucco or stone, but the systems are far more versatile than these and other materials. Not only do EIFS come in virtually limitless colors and a wide variety of textures, but they also can be fashioned into virtually any shape or design.
